English Homework March 19th- 23rd
Find the homophones in the Monster sheet Part 4 and 5 ( I will email this to you, you can copy the correct words onto your books)
Thinking about the Monster homophones story write a description of a different creature someone might find in a forest. Must be at least 100 words for the description.
We know there are three types of fractions
.Each table were given an odd number of marshmallows, they then had to share it equally with a remainder. This lesson focused on 'Improper Fractions' which means the denominator is smaller than the numerator,we had to turn this into a 'Mixed Fraction.'
We know when converting an improper fraction to a mixed fraction this are the steps we take :
I hope this helps and remember fractions involve division, subtraction and adding. Also keep on top of your timetables, they come in handy for everything, I promise.
Click on the link and go to 'Fantasy Shed'. You will find some short fantasy cartoons, I hope they give you some good ideas for when you begin your story.
As discussed in class, many of you can choose a book and find an audio on YouTube ,Amazon or any book shop. This will help you listen to how words are pronounced, it can also make reading fun and help with your comprehension. Use a headset, go to a nice quiet part of your house ( bedroom, living room, garden) have your book in your hand and listen to the audio ( a chapter a day) following the context in your book. I will post some videos of some I find. Let me know if you do this and give me some feedback :)
In class we have been reading different fantasy stories. Right now we are reading the book 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.'We have also been watching clips from the modern movie 'Narnia'.
Note to my students:
Try and challenge yourself, get away from your comfort zone and try and read a new book, written by a different author , different genre and something you wouldn't usually read! Most of you love Roald Dahl books and The Diary of the Wimpy Kid. Its okay to have a favorite author or book, but reading a different style of genre helps broaden your knowledge and widens your understanding. It will also help you be more creative for when you write your own stories, especially for this unit where you are expected to write a Fantasy Story.Below are a few examples of some of the best Fantasy stories ever written. Try and see if you can find them at the school library or even at home, I bet your parents or siblings have them in their book shelf. Give them a chance and see if its keeps you hooked.
